Ms. Alka Lamba, AIMC President, visited the residence of the late Akshata Mhatre, who was a victim of brutality by a priest and his associates at a temple in Shilphata, Mumbai, in the Kopar Khairane area. She met with the family members to offer her condolences. Maharashtra Pradesh Mahila Congress President Smt. Sandhya Sawalakhe and Mumbai Pradesh Mahila Congress President Smt. Anisha Bagul were also present during this visit.

In this grievous case, the family suspects that domestic violence may have been involved. There has also been significant negligence on the part of the police, leading the family to question the police’s handling of the case.

It is noteworthy that this area is the home region of the Chief Minister of the state. Recently, a case involving the rape and murder of a nine-year-old girl also came to light in Thane.

Given the current state of law and order in this region, one can only imagine the overall law and order situation across the entire state.
